Thermal Mastic
There are many types of mastic materials available, rv refrigerator but thermal mastic is a one-component heat transfer compound/sealant that can be used to promote and seal metal to metal contact with various metallic surfaces within an appliance or system. It is commonly used in domestic refrigeration, where it is applied to evaporator coils to improve their performance.
Typically, these compounds are smooth, pumpable heat transfer substances that act as gap fillers to improve the performance of systems and components by improving surface to surface heat transfer. They are especially useful for applications where there is a large surface area to be covered with a minimal amount of material.
The best thermal mastic is a combination of low viscosity chlorinated paraffin, a finely divided inorganic filler and a wetting agent, such as oleic acid, to facilitate dispersion of the filler in the vehicle.
This mastic is designed to provide good heat transfer between refrigerator tubing and refrigerator walls without degrading polyurethane foam insulation. The mastic can be a pumpable, one-component heat transfer compound that can be used in a wide variety of domestic and industrial appliances.
A typical application for this mastic is to seal around the recessed evaporator coil of a Norcold cooling unit or to seal a loosely hung condenser fan to the freezer plate and fins of an old fashioned residential fridge. This mastic will improve the cooling performance of your fridge, and if applied correctly, it will also prevent air leaks.
Using the mastic is as easy as spraying it on with a hose or brush, and it will last a long time because it does not dry out like other sealers such as silicone. This thermal mastic can be a very cost effective way to keep your fridge cool and prevent damage to the freezer and refrigerator itself.
Although there are several types of mastic compounds that have been developed, this particular one is the best in the industry. The mastic is not only effective, but it is also inexpensive and compatible with most of the polyurethane foams that are currently being used in domestic and commercial refrigeration.
