Located at Matter Road in district 14, Mattar Residences is a freehold condominium with a total of 26 units. It was developed by L.K.Ang Construction and is currently undergoing the final phase of its construction.
The big question, of course, is how well Matter will work in real homes. That will ultimately depend on which companies adopt the technology and how quickly they can update their products to use it. The good news is that the CSA expects the bulk of smart-home vendors to add Matter support soon. And while Matter doesn’t replace existing protocols like Zigbee and Bluetooth LE, it does create a unified communication standard that makes the bridges and hubs those technologies rely on less necessary — if they are used at all.
To use Matter, you will need a Matter controller, which will onboard devices and manage communications. It will also enable automations and remote access, if enabled. A Matter controller can be a smart speaker, a router or another device that supports the protocol. Apple HomeKit, Google Nest, Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings are all set to make their own devices a Matter controller when the tech launches. But existing devices that connect over Wi-Fi or Ethernet could eventually become a Matter controller as well, depending on whether their manufacturers pursue certification and how long it takes them to release an update.
In fact, many smart-home gadgets that require a bridge or hub may be able to be upgraded to Matter via over-the-air firmware updates. That’s the approach taken by Eve’s smart plugs and Yale locks, both of which offer swappable modules for the different wireless technologies they support. matter residences
