Strictly speaking the latest offering from LG is not the manufacturers first 5.0 megapixel camera phone, there was a very soft release of a previous model featuring the high quality camera some months ago but it never really made it to the mainstream market. As far as the company is concerned, their latest release is their first 5.0 megapixel camera phone and is direct competition for the current models from other manufacturers such as the Nokia N95, Samsung G600 and Sony Ericsson K850i.
The new LG Viewty does not feature a keypad and instead is fully controlled by its large 3 inch touchscreen display, it is the first LG phone to support YouTube video which makes sharing experiences quick and easy.
The user can use the high specification camera to capture short video clips before being able to directly upload them to their YouTube account for the world to see, this new integrated technology means that users will no longer be ties to a PC, uploading, organising and formatting video clips in order to submit to YouTube.
The camera offers a flash for low light level photography, a zoom function for close up picture capture and obviously support for video recording and playback, this is one of the highest resolution vide captures of any current mobile phone at 120 frames per second. Other camera features include autofocus for quick picture capture and one touch image stabiliser for shaky hands.
Capturing video clips at 120 frames per second using the phones advanced software the user can playback in slow motion as well as edit pictures on the large touchscreen with the stylus provided.
The LG U990 is also a 3G enabled device which makes uploading new video clips and other internet based tasks extremely quick and simple, with ‘broadband like’ speeds users can upload their video clips to their user account as well as post them on mobile blogs for friends and family to see.
3G also provides a wealth of informational services such as access to the latest news and sports headlines, new music videos and pre release movie trailers as well as allowing for face to face video calling with the addition of a secondary camera on the front of the handset.
Considering the sheer amount of technology within the phone it is surprising compact measuring just 103.5 x 54.4 x 14.8mm and weighing only 112g, that is actually half a centimeter narrower than the new Apple iPhone.
The LG Viewty is the successor to the popular LG Prada phone offering similar overall looks with the large touchscreen, thin dimensions and matt black finish, however it is actually part of the Chocolate range of LG phones that include the KG800 and more recent KE800 Platinum.
Other features include an FM Radio and an MP3 player that can easily be filled with music tracks directly from the internet via 3G before being organised into playlists according to genre, tempo ot mood.
For further connectivity, the KU990 offers a Micro USB connection for PC synchronization and Bluetooth technology for wireless connection to compatible devices for quick and easy file transfer.
The LG Viewty offers the very best technology and features from the manufacturer and is their pinnacle handset portraying a move towards far more sophisticated and stylish mobile phone models. youtube favorites
