Dating photos are one of the most important factors in your online dating profile. If you have a set of professional photos that make you look amazing and capture your personality then you are much more likely to attract people who are a good match for you.
A great photographer will understand how to pose you in a flattering way, which is crucial for creating stunning, confident and attractive dating photos. They will also know how to create a light and airy atmosphere in the studio, which is essential for helping you to look and feel your best.
Many of my clients struggle to smile in their dating photos because they think they look cheesy, but a great photographer will be able to help you relax and show your personality through a natural smiling photo. They will also be able to guide you through some simple breathing exercises that will help you to relax and come across as more friendly, open and engaging.
The golden rule is to have a minimum of two well-lit, classic head shots and a full body shot in a outfit that you like. It’s also a good idea to include a couple of “bonus” photos that give people a glimpse into your day to day life, for example you may have a photo of you eating an apple or drinking your favourite glass of wine!
If you have an important feature that you don’t like, such as long hair, a piercing or freckles, it’s best to include a photo of yourself without them. It’s all too often that someone meets their date for the first time and they are completely different to how they looked in their dating photos, which can be very off putting.
It’s also important to avoid using photos that show too much skin or body as this can be overwhelming and put off potential dates. The best dating photos will showcase your personality, so use a few flattering close up shots and save the group shots of you with your friends or your hot sports car for your social media accounts!
Another thing to be careful of is to not over edit your dating photos. In this day and age people can be very savvy when it comes to spotting a doctored photo and it will be off putting to your potential matches.
